Ingredients
- 100 g gnocchi
- 80 g chicken breast fillet
- 50 g mushrooms of choice
- ½ medium onion
- 10 g fresh spinach
- 1 tbsp lactose-free sour cream (15% fat)
- 1 tbsp oil of choice
Method
- 1Dice the chicken breast fillet. Slice the onion. Rinse the fresh spinach.
- 2Heat the oil in a pan and brown the gnocchis for 5 to 7 minutes until crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Remove them and set aside.
- 3In the same pan, sauté the onion and diced chicken. Once the chicken is golden, add the mushrooms of choice and cook for 5 minutes over medium heat.
- 4Pour in the sour cream, season with salt and pepper. Let the sauce thicken gently.
- 5Return the gnocchis to the pan with the fresh spinach. Stir gently for 1 minute so the sauce coats everything and the spinach wilts slightly.
- 6Serve immediately in a shallow bowl.

Common questions
- How many calories are in chicken gnocchi?
- This version comes to about 454 kcal with 26 g protein, 39 g carbohydrate and 21 g fat. That is the total for the recipe exactly as written below. Restaurant versions run far higher, mostly because they use several times more cream and oil.
- Is gnocchi good for weight loss?
- Gnocchi is not off limits. It is potato and flour, so it is carbohydrate-dense, and the usual problem is the sauce rather than the gnocchi itself. Keeping the portion to about 100 g and using a spoonful of sour cream instead of a cream sauce is what keeps this dish near 450 kcal.
- Can I use regular sour cream instead of lactose-free?
- Yes. The quantities and the method stay the same. Regular sour cream at a similar fat percentage gives you roughly the same calorie total, so the numbers above still hold.
- Do I have to brown the gnocchi separately?
- You can skip it and cook everything in one go, but browning is what gives the gnocchi a crisp edge instead of a soft one. It costs 5 to 7 minutes and no extra ingredients.
