Shopping and Cooking From the PDF
The document includes the seven-day schedule, daily menus, ingredient quantities, cooking instructions and weekly shopping list. It uses the same renderer as our delivered plans, with an added sample-information page.
Check your pantry and read the recipes before shopping. The weekly list includes repeated meals. Substitutions change the ingredients and nutrition; a static PDF will not recalculate them. Repeated menus are not instructions to keep cooked food for a whole week.
Nutrition figures are recipe-database estimates. Brands and quantities affect the numbers. Images are illustrative and may be AI-generated; follow written quantities rather than the apparent portion in a photo.
Is 1,800 Calories Right for You?
For someone with high energy needs, 1,800 could be a substantial deficit; for someone with lower needs, it may be near maintenance. A generic threshold does not establish that a plan is suitable or nutritionally complete for an individual.
Whether 1,800 is a deficit for you comes down to one number: what you burn. Estimate your resting burn with the Mifflin-St Jeor equation (BMR = 10 × weight + 6.25 × height − 5 × age + 5 for men, − 161 for women), multiply it by an activity factor between 1.2 for a desk job and 1.9 for hard daily training, then subtract 1,800. What is left is your daily deficit.
A pound of body fat stores roughly 3,500 calories (about 7,700 per kg), so that gap sets a weekly pace:
| Your daily burn | Deficit at 1,800 | Rough weekly loss |
|---|---|---|
| 2,075 | 275 | ~0.5 lb (0.25 kg) |
| 2,350 | 550 | ~1 lb (0.5 kg) |
| 2,625 | 825 | ~1.5 lb (0.7 kg) |
Two honest limits on that table. It assumes your burn estimate is accurate and your portions match the recipes, and burn drifts downward as you get lighter, so the pace flattens over months rather than holding. And if your own burn sits near 1,800, this week holds your weight steady instead of reducing it.
The usual failure is not the menu, it is everything around it. A written 1,800-calorie week plus untracked cooking oil, drinks and two restaurant meals is not an 1,800-calorie week, and the scale reads the second number.
One boundary worth stating plainly: 1,800 sits well above the 1,200-calorie floor for women and the 1,500-calorie floor for men, so this is not a very-low-calorie diet. Eating below those floors is a decision to make with a doctor, not one to take from a sample menu.
Our calorie calculator provides an estimate. The NIDDK Body Weight Planner also explains adult calorie planning. Neither replaces individual healthcare advice.
The 1,600-calorie example shows a different generated menu, not a recommendation to eat less.
FAQ
Is the PDF free?
Yes, without an email address or payment. It is a fixed sample, not a free personalized plan.
Is 1,800 calories enough for an active man?
You cannot determine that from sex or activity alone. It may be too low for someone with high energy needs. Assess your own circumstances rather than treating this example as a prescription.
Will this menu make you lose weight?
No. This menu does not establish your needs or predict your weight change. We do not attach a promised weekly loss to the download.
How is the paid plan different?
A personalized MenuVita plan uses your submitted preferences and calculated calorie target. The format is representative, but your recipes and portions can differ from this fixed sample.
